Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative of Chase City, VA is looking to hire a full-time System Operator / Dispatcher.
As a System Operator / Dispatcher, everything begins and ends with you as it pertains to communication out in the field.
You continually analyze system information to coordinate appropriate resources and respond efficiently in a safe, reliable manner while providing real-time communications to all parties involved.
Your excellent communication skills are essential to your success as you communicate regularly with the cooperative field crew, personnel, contractors, and members.

Your efficiency as you handle emergency situations with speed and accuracy is needed.
When there is an outage, you keep our electric cooperative staff informed and work closely with district personnel.
Using our outage management system (OMS) and other technologies including interactive voice response (IVR), advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), geographic information system (GIS), customer information system (CIS), automatic vehicle locating (AVL), mobile workforce management (MWM) and Supervisory control, and data acquisition (SCADA), you dispatch crews according to the priority of calls and maintain communication with them.
With attention to detail, you process necessary outage reports in a timely manner in order to provide statistical data for outage analysis.
As appropriate, you coordinate and perform switching operations for restoration efforts as well as in daily operations.
You also monitor substation operations such as voltages, currents, and other status signals via our SCADA System.
With attention to safety, you monitor weather conditions and update the member database, work management, and GIS mapping systems in real time.
You respond to 911-emergency calls competently by gathering appropriate information and dispatching necessary personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CONTROL CENTER OPERATOR / DISPATCHER
Associate's degree in a technical field such as computers or engineering OR equivalent experience
3 years of customer service experience
2 years of experience in utility field distribution or similar dispatching experience
Background in basic utility map reading
Exceptional customer service skills
Ability to obtain valid first aid and CPR certifications within six months of hire
Valid Virginia drivers license
DISPATCHING WORK SCHEDULE
This full-time utility dispatcher position requires that you work overtime and extended workdays due to a rotating schedule that covers nights, weekends, holidays.
