Description
Supervise Bus Drivers in the Transportation Department; assign vehicles for fixed route and demand response service; facilitate safe operations through direction and training; dispatch radio communications to drivers; use automated scheduling software.

The City retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.
Supervises mass transit operations and oversees office administration; ensures buildings and grounds are clean and secure.
Manages employees by creating work schedules; maintaining personnel, payroll and maintenance records; evaluating performance; selecting new employees; and disciplining employees.
Performs clerical duties by making reservations; and keying in data for Route Match.
Supervises the money collected from fixed routes and demand response service by counting and verifying the drivers’ counts; making bank deposits; and recording all tokens and money for each run.
Prepares paperwork by recording assignments of buses to fixed routes; and maintains mileage and fuel records for buses daily.
Reviews camera surveillance video to monitor customer service.
Responds to passenger complaints.
Completes training activities.
Monitors operational performance for fixed route and reservation based operations.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES Schedules special trips; Maintains mileage and fuel reports.
Investigates accidents by pulling videos from buses, shop or facilities; determining cause of accidents; and preparing reports.
Attends meetings and training sessions.
Performs additional duties to support operational requirements as assigned.
Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED, with knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature from six months/one year of advanced study or training from a college, vocational, business, or technical school, and over one year up to and including three years of experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above.
Certifications/Licenses Valid Commercial Driver’s License and acceptable driving record according to City criteria.

Reading Intermediate: Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, and thesauruses.

Fiscal Responsibilities Completes research for documents, compiles data for computer entry, and/or enters or oversees data entry.
Has responsibility for monitoring budget/fiscal expenditures (typically non-discretionary expenditures) for a work unit of less than department size (programs, activities, projects or small organizational units) or responsibility for fiscal management of capital project(s).
May recommend budget allocations.

There is rare exposure to communicable diseases and physical danger or abuse.
The employee is expected to wear appropriate protective equipment as apparent or assigned, if any.
