Service Technician (CDL)

The Service Technician will play a crucial role in the installation, repair, and maintenance of propane and oil equipment and tanks in addition to assisting the Bulk Plant with fuel deliveries as needed.
To ensure success as a Service Technician, one should have sound mechanical knowledge, be able work in confined spaces for an extended period, have exceptional communication skills, and a passion for customer service.
To ensure success, one must have a willingness to multitask, a passion for customer service and the aspiration to be involved with building a local business.
This will require excellent communication skills, a positive attitude in the face of challenges and the ability to execute on identified solutions.
Above all else, personal safety and the safety of our customers must take on the highest priority.
Ultimately, a top-class Service Technician/ Fuel Delivery Driver, will provide excellent customer service through efficient deliveries, expert installation services and dedicated support to all our customers.
This position will support our Thomas Brothers Propane location in Yanceyville, NC.
*Essential Responsibilities/ Functions:* *_Service Technician:_* * Travels to customers' homes or place of business * Installs tanks and/or appliances * Repairs equipment such as LP Furnaces, Water Heaters, LP appliances * Suggests areas where equipment should be set up – Site surveys * Troubleshoots problems with existing equipment * Tests old and new installation along with testing connections * Provides customers with verbal and written operating instructions for new equipment * Maintains equipment and cleans up after the job is complete * Records and maintains stock levels * Maintains the work vehicle and general maintenance of the vehicle *_Propane Bobtail Driver:_* * Complies with all city, state, and federal regulations * Loads, secures, transports, and delivers propane and fuel to residential/commercial locations * Performs pre and post-trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation of hazardous materials * Maintains and completes accurate records by documenting truck inspections, hours of service, product transported, and miles driven in compliance with all DOT regulations * Maintains the operational efficiency of vehicles by monitoring truck maintenance needs, conducting minor repairs and conducting daily DOT truck inspections to ensure maximum vehicle safety * Ensures that delivery vehicle receives service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor * Performs other related duties as assigned _The absence of specific statements of duties does not exclude those tasks from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment of the position.
_ *Required Skills/Abilities:* * Proven work experience as a Licensed Service Technician * Advanced knowledge of propane (LP) systems * Willingness to learn and grow; service oriented * Ability to uphold a customer culture that continually strives to exceed expectations * Ability to solve problems and repair equipment on site * Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps * Ability to maintain accurate logs and records *Education, Certification, Licenses:* * High school diploma or equivalent required * Class A or B CDL license with hazmat and tanker endorsements required * Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record * Propane & Natural Gas Technician Certification: Delivery, Tank Setters, Appliance Connection & Service Technician (preferred but not required) *Physical, Mental, and Behavioral Requirements:* The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
* Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 100 lbs.
for approximately 90% of the work shift * Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle, multiple times per work shift * Good hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night * Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms * Must be able to speak and hear * Position is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company provider * Must pass pre-employment screening and background check * Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed * Work is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes, airborne particles and gases is common _The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work that is expected to be performed.
